Dr. Chung is a Certified Invisalign® Provider

Consider Invisalign to get the beautiful straight teeth you've always wanted — without braces. A complimentary consultation with Dr. Chung can determine if Invisalign is right for you.

What is it?

Invisalign uses a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you're wearing. So, you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Invisalign is made with 3-D computer imaging technology and has been proven effective. More than 70% of orthodontists in the US and Canada are certified to treat with Invisalign.

Why would I want it?

Not only are the aligners invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. They are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. And no metal and wires usually means you spend less time in your doctor's office getting adjustments. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.

How does it work?

You wear each set of aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move — little by little, week by week — until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Chung has prescribed. You'll visit Dr. Chung about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

Invisalign® Retainer Delivery Instructions

  1. Wear aligners at ALL times!! Only take them out to brush, floss, and eat. Each aligner should be worn two (2) weeks at a time, unless Dr. Chung has specified otherwise. Never skip aligners!! Each set must be worn exactly as directed by Dr. Chung. Ideally, they should be worn anywhere from twenty (20) to twenty-two (22) hours per day.
  2. Drinking. You may drink with your aligners. However, do NOT drink hot substances with them on (e.g., coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate, etc…). If you drink soda or any other sugary, citrus or carbonated drinks, be sure to remove the aligners each time and rinse thoroughly to prevent tooth decay. Some foods, and most definitely smoking, have a tendency to stain aligners, much like they do teeth.
  3. Storage. Place the used aligners back in the corresponding numbered box and tape closed. Be sure to bring your last two (2) sets with you to every appointment. DO NOT THROW ANY ALIGNERS AWAY!
  4. Attachments. Check them as frequently as possible. If one happens to come off, call our office immediately. We will extend your next appointment to be sure we can repair it at that time. In some cases, you may need to come in sooner rather than waiting for your next scheduled appointment.
  5. Lost aligners. Wear the next sequential aligner if you have it and the fit is adequate. If not, wear the immediately previous aligner. It is extremely important to wear something to prevent the teeth from shifting. Call our office so we can advise you in regards as to what to do next.
  6. New aligners. They may not always fit exactly how you feel they should. This is normal. It is important that they fit well after a two (2) week period. If they do not fit comfortably, it may be best to wear them for an extra week. If you have done so and have any questions, feel free to call our office.
  7. Changing aligners. Doing so at night allows easier removal in the morning. It also minimizes any discomfort that you may have.
  8. Sharp or pointy edges. You may use an emery board to smooth an aligner to alleviate discomfort. Nothing else.
  9. Cleaning. Use denture cleaner or a toothbrush with toothpaste gently to clean your aligners. We do not recommend denture cleaner with mouthwash in it. The aligners tend to pick up the strong color of the mouthwash and stain it.
  10. NO PETS!! Keep out of reach of any pets' and in their case at ALL times.
  11. Dental Work. If you need dental procedures throughout the course of treatment, please notify Dr. Chung prior to any work performed. Some dental work will involve the modification of aligners to fit correctly and may require additional fees. Also, be sure to notify your general dentist/specialist of any attachments in your mouth. They should work around them and NOT remove any composite attachments.
